The Beastie Boys "The Rat Cage"
Despite being around since 1981, Beastie Boys still know how to mix things up. The legendary hip hop/rock/punk trio have just released their seventh full length album, The Mix-Up, via long time label Capitol Records. The reasons behind their success is simple: each album has its own distinct sounds, vibes and lyrics. However, this time around, what makes the album so fresh is the absence of one of those key elements: lyrics. The Mix-Up is comprised entirely of original Beastie Boys instrumentals.
"The Rat Cage" is the latest video to be released from The Mix-Up. Shot entirely in black and white, all three of the boys make cameos throughout. Using the spy motif, the video follows the mysterious transactons between the sunglassed bandmates. Although what's being passed around isn't clear, what is clear is the fact that whatever it is, won't stay in one place.
